 Mason County Fire District #2

"Neighbors helping neighbors." It's not just their slogan; it's how they live. From answering the call for medical and fire emergencies to educating the public on safety, Mason County Fire District #2 embodies the phrase"public service." Our homeschooling group recently had the opportunity to take a tour of the fire station and get to know these brave men up close.

Some things we learned included the extensive amount of training and education that firemen and paramedics go through, the importance of seconds, that they are the area's disaster preparedness center, and fire safety rules.

Interesting fact from Jenna: Do you know why Dalmatians are traditionally fire dogs? Because they are good with horses, and cleared the way for the horses that used to pull the fire engines. You can read more about fire traditions at Fire Service Traditions.

"You want to know what?" Matt shows off the latest fire fashions.
