THE PIZZA FACTORY

More than ten years ago, Charlie and his wife opened up a Pizza Factory franchise in Belfair. It's a labor of love, and has grown into a community hangout. They still do most of the work, from mixing dough every morning to serving guests, and everything inbetween.

Memorabilia from local sports teams, and thank you letters galore adorn the walls. From the outside, it appears small, but is actually pretty expansive with seating for over a hundred. We recently took a field trip to learn about what goes into making a pizza.

The children learned what a franchise is, and what benefits there are to owning one. Duane was especially interested in the huge mixer, which resembles the one he has at home, only on a different scale. All the moms want his dishwasher, which does a whole load in 3 minutes! Melody took several turns tossing the pizza dough, and Daniel is a natural, flipping his dough high into the air. Did you know that putting your dough into the refrigerator for 24-48 hours makes it more manageable and it holds together better? Also, spreading half the cheese of a cheese pizza, then baking halfway before adding the other half, makes it just perfect! The best part, though, according to David was EATING the pizza!

Field trips are available for school and homeschool groups by calling the Pizza Factory at (360)275-2000. The actual tour takes about 30 minutes, but allow plenty of time for socializing over a hot pizza afterward. A complimentary medium cheese pizza is included to share. Additional extra large pizzas cut into small slices *s* run about $15.
